College Station K-8 Charter School
Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is a nationally recognized, non-profit, father involvement program created for the purpose of encouraging dads, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures to become more involved in schools. The men who volunteer serve as positive male role models for our students.
Be a Positive Role Model
Students gain a positive male role model. Many students do not have a father-figure present in their home and these and other students benefit when a positive male role model is present.
Be a Better Partner
Education is a partnership. Investing just one day at school, you can learn firsthand of how to better to partner with teachers and the school to meet educational goals of your student.
Be Better Connected
Get a glimpse of your students’ everyday world and learn about the increasingly complex challenges and decisions today’s youth are facing. As a result, you can learn to relate better to and connect with them.
The presence of a father or father-figure provide extra sets of eyes and ears enhancing school security and reducing bullying and helps create an environment conducive to learning.
As we work to drive down drop-out rates and increase graduation and college completion rates, fathers have an important role to play. Children are always watching. Engaged fathers can strengthen our schools, mentor and tutor students and demonstrate through their actions how much they value their children’s education.
